GS Caltex made little profit as an Asian quarter player during the 2023-2024 season. After all, the team went through twists and turns after the nomination, and eventually, there was no presence of an Asian quarter player throughout the season.

With 2024-2025 season to go, GS Caltex selected Australian Apogit Spiker Stephanie as the sixth overall pick in the Asian Quarter Draft. As a former beach volleyball player, Stephanie has only been trained in indoor volleyball for about four years. However, she is physically strong as she is a tall player measuring 195 centimeters. She still lacks power and detail, but has confirmed her potential for growth.

It has been about two months since Stephanie joined the team. How does the coach feel? "Stephanie has improved a lot. He is improving every day. It will be his first time to officially train so much," GS Caltex coach Lee Young-taek said in expressing satisfaction. "He is following along well with hard training without any hesitation, and he is absorbing what he teaches."

Stephanie, who is practically new to volleyball in Korea, said with a smile, "It's a great opportunity to play in Korea. I think it's an opportunity to grow every day, and I'm growing every day," adding, "Unlike how I played volleyball, I'm going back to a very fast pace. So I'm trying to adapt a lot every day."

"Actually, I've never trained so much. But I think it's a great opportunity," he said. "I'm learning that I have to be consistent in receiving. And I try to respond to V-League players' serve because it's low and fast, and I'm learning from various angles how to score points because V-League players' defense is so good."

Stephanie is taking steps step by step with a strong assistant. The main character is her teammate Giselle Silva. Silva, the top scorer in the V-League last season, has been through a lot of leagues. Silva is also relying on Stephanie as a stranger, and she is trying to learn Silva's experiences and know-how.

Stephanie said, "Silva is a very experienced player. She gives me a lot of great advice on the court. She tells me how to score points during a rally and how to supplement the blocking position. I'm trying to learn a lot from Silva's advice."

Coach Lee Young-taek, who is an expert in blocking, and Japanese coach Avo Kiyoshi, who is a master of detailed tactics, are also dependent on Stephanie. "Both the coach and the coach are professionals and savvy in volleyball. I think I am very lucky to learn under the coach and the coach," Stephanie said.

As the team was disappointed due to the Asian quarter last year, expectations from people around it are high. "I will do my best every moment and try to find opportunities to grow every day. If I do my best, good things will happen during the season and I think I will be able to meet the fans' expectations," Stephanie said. "Since I know how precious the fans' support is, I want to work hard in training and repay them with as many wins as possible."
